If you’ve ever loved a dog so deeply it hurt to breathe without them, if you’ve ever felt your animal’s energy long after they passed, if you just know they still visit, guide, and walk beside you…
You’re not imagining it.
You’re remembering a truth your soul already knows.
Animals don’t just love us.
They anchor us. Teach us. Heal us.
And when their physical form leaves, their soul remains connected.
This is what I’ve come to know, through Rosie, through my own grief, and through the whispers that never really stopped.
The Language of the Soul Is Subtle
Animal souls communicate not with words, but with:
Sensations in your chest or belly
Feathers or pawprints in unexpected places
Dreams that feel more like visits
A sudden warmth or calm when you’re spiraling
An urge to pause or go outside, just as you used to
These aren’t coincidences.
They are invitations to remember.
Rosie still visits me in these ways, sometimes as a feeling, sometimes through a crystal or oil she loved, through automatic writing and often as a whisper I hear in the in-between moments.
Animals as Spirit Guides, Teachers & Mirrors
Every animal in our life has a role. Some:
Hold us through grief or transition
Mirror our wounds or emotions
Teach us how to stay present and soft
Arrive with a soul contract to guide us back to ourselves
Whether you’ve had one animal or many, the connection isn’t random, it’s sacred.
Some may become:
Spirit Guides after they pass
Power Animals who teach you strength, patience, or healing
Totem Animals who walk beside you your entire life
And some, like Rosie, become soul companions, woven into every layer of your work and being.
Grief Is a Gateway to Deeper Connection
Losing an animal hurts in a way few people understand unless they’ve lived it.
But the grief you feel is proof of how deeply your hearts were braided together.
And even in the grief, there is a door, a thin place, where their energy still meets yours.
When we sit with grief, we open ourselves to:
Spiritual signs
Emotional healing
New layers of communication
Creative expression through memory, ritual, and presence
Simple Ways to Reconnect With an Animal in Spirit
Here are a few gentle practices I recommend:
Light a candle and whisper their name aloud
Place one of their photos, collars, or tags on an altar
Use crystals they were drawn to (Rosie loved amethyst and rose quartz)
Write them a letter and ask them to respond in dreams
Place your hand on your heart and ask, “What would you want me to know today?”
Their love doesn’t disappear, it transforms.
Rosie’s Whisper
“I never left.
I just became part of the silence you find peace in.
The ritual you light with intention.
The courage in your chest when you thought you couldn’t go on.”
— Rosie
Final Reflection
Our animals are more than companions.
They are soul allies, here to walk with us, before, during, and long after their time on Earth.
So if you’ve been wondering if that nudge, dream, or feeling was real…
Yes. It was. It is.
And your connection is still very much alive.
With love,
Joanne & Rosie
